Falling in Love all over again with… Beyonce

So as most people know, I have a love/hate relationship with Beyonce Carter. Apart of me says she should retire to married life and let the younger R&B stars have their moment to shine without having to compete against the title as the “Queen”, while another part falls in love with her when she comes back and gives us her passion and heart on a platter.

When I first heard about her secret album release, I thought, “Okay what’s this all about” but I was surprisingly overwhelmed with how good the songs were and the fact that she put 17 new videos to the album. She had done it again, she had made me fall in love with her!

This album showed a very grown side of Beyonce. A side we hadn’t really been able to physically hear or see. Songs such as Heaven allow us to feel more personal about Beyonce as it opens us up to her silent pain of having a miscarriage which has never been publicly addressed due to her being a very private soul. Rocket and Blow are both very sexual songs which both have very different spins as their videos confirm. Blow is very candyfloss, playful while Rocket has a more intimate twist. Flawless has that crunk, edgier appeal for when you just wanna get ready to go out and indulge in your own sexiness as the lyrics state “I look so good tonight, god damn, god damn”.

Mine is a song about declaring ones love for each other and not giving a damn who knows it. It is the only song on the album which features another celebrity, my dearly beloved Drake besides her husband. Their soft tones blend so beautifully.

I have a personal favourite track on the album and its entitled Blue. Blue is a dedication to Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter. When I first saw the video for this song, I had a surprisingly overwhelming flow of emotions. This was the track which made me initially fall in love with her all over again. The video which is set in Rio de Janiero shows us a great amount of Beyonce and her only child playing sentimentally bare foot (insert, at the top). The song is so beautiful that every time I hear it I have a sudden urge to do something I never felt before which is to cry out in joy. You can feel the love and see the extreme love that Beyonce holds for her daughter and I cant wait for the chance to sing this song and lovingly attach it to my own daughter one day.

An album I don’t have to press the skip button to. She’s back and she’s on top form!

For better or for worse!

So after seeing a picture of one my loves (imaginary) Robin Thicke groping a girl with his shirt loosened and a elated expression on his face to his wife’s disbelief, the question to me still stands. Why not stay single if you want to still mingle?!

Well, I know in this day and age some would say that as a generation we are all to quick to get divorced but I think why stay married if you are not committed and you are not going to take it seriously?!

As a person, if you do not feel you have enough control of yourself and of your temptations, why not communicate this with your partner first? Express where your heads at or how you feel the relationship is going. People are not direct enough, which often leads them to do the cowardly thing, perform infidelity.

To often people adopt the cliché, “what they don’t know won’t hurt them” attitude in order to lead a so-called “thrilling” lifestyle where keeping secrets and the possibilities of getting caught are a big turn on, when in actuality its a cop out. This kind of action marks the beginning of the idea that you feel that your partner is not of high or at least equal value. Why not give them the heads up, so that they can decide whether they actually want to be with you too?!

Well my theories are that people stay in these marriages frightened to admit that their relationship isn’t working because they think that this screams out failure to others when on contrary, it is only screaming out to themselves. The need to keep up appearances remains strong because society has made it quite unattractive to be a single person.

It appears that people think that when you are single you are not happy. You are not desired and as a result you are lonely. This is all a bunch of B.S to be quite frank. This thought is not by default through being single, these thoughts are only thoughts you CHOOSE to embark. We all CHOOSE how we want to feel about something and what we want to do. It all starts with YOU.

This is the main issue. A majority of people feel they need validation through the eyes, opinion and companionship of another. But what we need to first learn is to start solely with loving ourselves. This again is something which, society does not promote.

Monogamy is a beautiful thing, which is applied in order to build and develop a deeper connection. If this kinda depth is not for you then I feel it’s best not to promise such a commitment.

In my opinion, when we stay in something whether it be work, or in this case relationships, when we know its not making us happy, it’s a sign of weakness not a sign of weakness when we decide to move on. Some situations are here to make us evolve and learn so all we must do is be thankful for the experience because it is preparation for whatever is next in our lives!

*I take on board that this photo is suggestive and some may not feel it is evidence that infidelity is taking place but I will soon blog about this query also*

Feel free to share your opinions 🙂

I’m l❤ing: Macklemore!

Right so, straight from the bat I enjoyed his debut, Thrift Shop. It contradicted the medias mundane promotion of Gucci, Gucci, Fendi, Fendi, Prada. Playing around and letting the world know that it’s also cool to be vintage and rock not so popular brands. Lets face it, we don’t all have money to blow for those items but never the less, Macklemore showed us how to look super dope with money to spare lol.

His next hit with Cant Hold Us, had a triumphant appeal motivating the world to do whatever it is they want to do and to carry on through adversity. I love his lyrical flow and the fact that he breaks the mold, consciously rapping, spreading useful insights and ideas in a time where music seems to be leading the younger generation astray.

His latest song, Same Love is based on a constant controversial subject, homosexuality. In this song Macklemore shares his views on the narrow minded problem the world still face excepting the same gendered relationships. Macklemore makes it clear that we are all equal and we all love the same so homosexuality should not be looked at any different from heterosexuality. We should not want to change to fit in with societies unrealistic terms, we are who we are. I’m loving Macklemore because he is changing the modern conventions of rap and playfully challenging the common ideologies that rap music has to offer. Being himself and doing his own thing no matter how stereotypically cool it may not be, I feel like I can relate. In a place where being yourself is frowned upon I feel like he successfully reinforces hope for this generation, plus in the words of ASAP Rocky “The white boy can spit”!
